Welcome to Forest Leaders first monthly insights edition. We believe in sharing knowledge and let's face it, knowledge is power. The more you know about your investment, the more interested you become, and that's our goal, to bring the joy of New Zealand land and planting trees for our future generations to the forefront of your mind. We founded Forest Leaders out of pure passion for the natural forest, the environment and people who want to enhance our land and property resilience for future generations.

These insights will be based upon the facts you need and the economic impacts that may affect your investment. We want to share with you our trips and treasures we discover along the way and how we are evolving as a business alongside NZ environmental standards and expectations; and always resonating duly with our values and ethics. For us, finding great pieces of land and enjoying nature in our electric ATV is great fun, but maintaining our relationships and ethics is even more important.

Creating positive financial, social and environmental impacts.

MARKET UPDATE

The month of March has brought us some interesting news around the world, not just in a financial position but in terms of NZUs and how countries will survive the recent petrol prices and how we as humans, will overcome a world in turmoil.

Carbon Pricing

The price of carbon continues to steadily rise having reached $85, although, it has returned to $73 in recent days.

At last weeks auction the Government was forced to sell almost all the units it had set aside to keep the price within its target. This means the next three auctions of the year will have little to no additional units to sell to keep the price at $70, due to this Forest Leaders expect to see the NZU price steadily rise during 2022 to close to $100 per unit.

Bio Fuel demand in New Zealand

There is a growing demand for biofuel from emitters either in the form of wood chip, or to replace petrol. In recent conversations with Fonterra regarding their future demand, Forest Leaders had to point out to Fonterra their demand is equivalent to 1/3rd of current harvest volumes! The need for wood fibre has never been stronger and is only likely to increase over the next decade
